Class "A" Recycled Pallet Specifications
DESCRIPTION 48x40 4-way shipping pallets.
MATERIAL Hardwood only.
STRINGERS
No broken, plugged or repaired stringers acceptable. Weather cracks
permissible provided crack does not affect pallet's ability to carry load.
General rule: If crack goes through entire thickness of stringer, the
pallet is to be rejected unless pallet has been properly plated.
DECK BOARDS
- All deck boards are to be a minimum of 5/8" thickness.
- Any combination of boards acceptable on top deck provided no more than 3¼” spacing exists, between
boards.
- Bottom deck to have two 1 x 6 x 40” lead boards and three 1 x 4 x 40” boards in center of stringer.
EXCEPTION: Two 1 x 6 x 40” boards in center are permissible.
- Deck boards are to be nailed down tightly. Broken boards not acceptable. Cracked boards or where
a portion of the board is missing are permissible provided the strength of
the pallet is not affected and no more than 10% of the surface area board
is missing.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
- Protruding nails that can come in contact with merchandise, or on the outside of the
stringers are not acceptable.

show signs of deterioration due to rot or decay. Excessive oil and grease
are not acceptable. Other factors that are not acceptable include:
- Insect and rodent droppings
- Chemical solidification
- Toxic
markings, symbols, or illicit graffiti.
